Money Order
Certificate for a specified amount of money, which may be transmitted by post and encashed at a money order office or post office. This system was pioneered by Britain and the United States in the early nineteenth century and is now virtually worldwide. The term is now confined to certificates above a certain value, the terms postal order and postal note being used for similar certificates covering small amounts.
